Asia Security Group understands that the threat faced by private sector and foreign government entities operating in Afghanistan is multi-dimensional, dynamic, and constantly evolving. The answer is not always as simple as ‘Al Qaeda’ or the ‘Taliban.’
Asia Security Group maintains strong relationships (many based on life-long personal affiliations) with an extensive network of contacts throughout Afghanistan, particularly in the south. Our contacts include key leaders in the national and local governments, including all the local government leaders and tribal elders in the volatile provinces in the south and east of the country. Our ability to harness the vast volumes of raw information at our disposable, and process this information into thorough, accurate, and timely intelligence is what sets us apart. Prior to executing a security operation in support of its client, Asia Security Group ensures that a thorough threat assessment is conducted in the vicinity of the project site. The assessment focuses on a wide array of factors directly or indirectly related to the local security climate. These may include the area’s social composition, economic conditions, political climate, historical terrorist and criminal activity, transportation networks, local medical system, emergency services, communications infrastructure, and significant geographical and environmental factors. Asia Security Group takes all factors into account, and carefully tailors its resources and procedures accordingly. Asia Security Group maintains a strong institutional relationship with the Centre for Conflict and Peace Studies (CAPS), an independent research centre based in Kabul that conducts action-oriented research on national and regional issues affecting the security and political stability of Afghanistan. CAPS possesses a robust and well-developed monitoring and threat assessment capability and, in consultation with Asia Security Group, can provide detailed briefings to clients who wish to thoroughly examine the threat before selecting the appropriate security solution. Ultimately, the history of Afghanistan has proven that successful security operations are invariably related to the planner and operator’s ability to appreciate the myriad of ethnic and cultural sensitivities associated with operating in the country. ASG ensures no details are missed. |
